It’s the favorite meeting place for movie lovers: the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival is open. Until Sunday, September 1, the public will be able to discover the 70 films screened in competition, in the festival’s usual friendly atmosphere.

The streets are crowded in Angoulême (Charente) this Friday, August 30. Cinema fans wouldn’t miss the annual meeting of the French-speaking festival for anything in the world. “We’ve been coming for several years, it’s quite nice. The people are friendly and approachable.”comments a woman. With 65 entries and 70 films screened, the festival is breaking all records in 2024.

The stars parade here in complete freedom, without bodyguards or protocol, a true paradise for autograph and selfie hunters. “We discuss our passion, we meet the public,” rejoices the director Valérie Donzelli. I love it. It’s a festival where we are very in contact with the public”adds actor Laurent Lafitte. In theaters, films are also an opportunity for relaxed exchanges with the actors.
