While war is still raging in Ukraine, NATO countries are carrying out military exercises in neighboring countries. For the moment, it is a question of displaying unfailing unity against Russia.
A war scene in the middle of the Danube. Zodiacs set off to attack another bank. Polish, Dutch and French tanks embark on American barges to dislodge the enemy. In eastern Romania, very close to Ukraine, an extraordinary exercise was held with 2,500 soldiers from a dozen countries, to show NATO unity and learn to fight together. “The challenge is to draw inspiration from the tactics put in place in Ukraine to improve our defensive and offensive systems”explains Lieutenant-Colonel Matthieu.
Countries bordering Ukraine protected
On the entire eastern flank of Europe, NATO training is linked. Soldiers from the first regiment of Belfort are for example present to bring their experience. For now, the 31 NATO countries are content to protect countries bordering Ukraine such as Poland or Romania. For the moment, it is a question of displaying unfailing unity against Russia.
