Since Monday, April 25, Sister André has been the doyenne of humanity. Portrait of a longevity champion.

Sister André turned 118 two months ago in thenursing home where she lives, in Toulon (var). Its record longevity attracts journalists from all over the world. like a phenomenon“, has funshe. At the end of the Second World War, at the age of 35, the young Protestant converted to Catholicism. She is the sixth French dean of humanity, still far behind Jeanne Calment, who died at 122 years old. His luck? A capital favorable genetics, and the ability to overcome all the diseases encountered, such as the Covid-19 which she survived. Despite her advanced age, Sister André is still in good health, even though she has lost her sight.
