The quality of French roads has deteriorated. France fell to 18th place in the world rankings in 2019, while it was first in 2012.

Potholes, crevices, and even cracks represent traps for motorists. Climate change, poor road maintenance and the repeated passage of trucks cause multiple damage to French roads. Roads which also suffer from increased traffic, such as in Ille-et-Vilaine, near Rennes. Due to certain works, an alternative route goes via a municipal road where the road has suffered from these passages for several months.

100,000 euros of work for 1 kilometer

The road would therefore have to be redone, but it costs 100,000 euros for one kilometer. Educational radars and 30 km/h signs have changed nothing in the attitude of drivers who struggle to pass each other on a very narrow road. Residents are now awaiting the end of work on the neighboring departmental road, scheduled for several months.
