French sport has a new phenomenon of precocity in its ranks. Ksenia Efremova won the first tournament of her young career on Sunday December 31. At just 14 years, 8 months and 3 days old, the very young hopeful won the title in Monastir, Tunisia, a competition counting for the ITF circuit, a secondary circuit to the WTA. No player since 2003, and the Bulgarian Sesil Karatantcheva had won her first tournament at such a young age, the promise of a future that some already believe is bright.

Efremova defeated the German Selina Dal in the final (7-6, 6-0), after a stunning performance since she was led 4-1, then 5-3 during the first set, before winning ten of the following eleven games.

The performance is all the more remarkable because, in addition to its young age, the Habs dismissed the seeds 1, 4, 5 and 6 – without losing a single set – during the tournament to lift their first trophy.
