(Ottawa) It is up to the French to choose who, Marine Le Pen or Emmanuel Macron, will be in charge in France, but for Canada, the re-election of the outgoing president would be good news, said Justin Trudeau.

The day after the debate between the two candidates who aspire to the presidency for the next five-year term, and a few days before the vote, the Prime Minister of Canada displayed his colors. After cautiously asserting that “it is a very important decision for the French”, he admitted his bias for Emmanuel Macron.
“I must point out that for several years, I have had the honor and the pleasure of working alongside President Macron, whether on climate change, whether on inclusive economic growth, whether on international issues and the protection of democracy, ”he argued on the sidelines of an announcement on Thursday afternoon.
“And I can say that it would be a good thing for Canada for the world that we could continue to work with Emmanuel in the years to come,” concluded Justin Trudeau.
The French are called to the polls on Sunday for the second round of the presidential election.
Several polls give a lead to President Macron.
