(Paris) Outgoing President Emmanuel Macron would easily come out on top in the first round of the presidential election in France if it took place on Sunday, with 25% of the voting intentions, ahead of right-wing candidates Valérie Pécresse and far-right Marine Le Pen tied at 15.5%, according to a poll on Saturday.

In the second round, Mr. Macron, who has not yet formally announced his candidacy, would win ahead of each of these two candidates, according to this Ipsos-Sopra Steria survey carried out for the daily The world, the Jean Jaurès Foundation and the Cevipof political research center with more than 12,500 people.
According to this survey, which goes in the same direction as many other recent polls, Emmanuel Macron would obtain in the second round 54% of the votes against Valérie Pécresse (46%), and 57% against Marine Le Pen (43%).

The other far-right candidate Éric Zemmour, with 13% in the first round, regains part of his delay on the two candidates compared to recent polls.
On the left, Jean-Luc Mélenchon (far left) tops the voting intentions with 8%, ahead of the ecologist Yannick Jadot (7%), the former minister of former socialist president François Hollande Christiane Taubira (5 %) and the socialist mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo (3.5%).
The weakness of the scores of the left is coupled with a strong hesitation between its various candidates.
Some 54% of respondents saying they want to vote for Mr. Mélenchon say they are sure of their choice. The percentage drops to 36% for Yannick Jadot, 30% for Anne Hidalgo and 27% for Christiane Taubira.
The choice is safe for 72% of those questioned saying they want to vote for Mme The pen. The percentage is 68% for Emmanuel Macron, 63% for Éric Zemmour and 47% for Valérie Pécresse.

Potential voters of Emmanuel Macron would go, in case of hesitation, to 40% towards Valérie Pécresse as second choice. Those of Mme Pécresse would be 43% to opt for Mr. Macron as a second choice, much more than for Éric Zemmour (23%) or Marine Le Pen (22%).
For their part, the respondents attracted by the candidacy of Mme Le Pen are 51% to choose Éric Zemmour as second choice. Those tempted by Mr. Zemmour are 37% to place the RN candidate as second choice.
The two rounds of voting will take place on April 10 and 24.
Voting intentions do not constitute a forecast of the outcome of the ballot. They give an indication of the balance of power and dynamics on the day of the survey.
Survey carried out from January 14 to 17 with a sample of 12,542 people registered on the electoral lists. Margin of error between 0.2 and 0.9 points.
