French nationals from Sudan, a country in political crisis, were able to land in Djibouti after a complex evacuation operation.

It is the first French aircraft from Sudan since the fighting began. The military Airbus A400M landed around 5 p.m. in Djibouti. On board, a hundred French or European nationals, expatriates, diplomats; alone or with family. The very complex evacuation operation, according to the Quai d’Orsay, is being carried out by French special forces. A first attempt was postponed in extremis, Saturday April 22.

At least 400 dead in Sudan

During this first action plan, the French had to reach the French embassy by their own means before going to the airport with the army. “The difficulty is that the embassy cannot ensure the logistics between their accommodation and these rallying points”, explains Bakri Ali Gabir of the Generations 2 Nils association. The capital, Khartoum, is plagued by explosions, fires and gunfire. There would be between 400 dead and 3,500 injured.
