French Football Federation files complaint

The Copa America winners sang racist chants against the French on the way back to their hotel after the final victory against Colombia.

The French Football Federation will contact the International Federation of Association Football and file a legal complaint following a video published on social media in which Argentinian footballers sing a racist chant against players from the French team, the FFF said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Faced with the seriousness of these shocking remarks, contrary to the values ​​of sport and human rights, the president of the FFF has decided to directly appeal to his Argentinian counterpart and FIFA and to file a legal complaint for racially and discriminatorily offensive remarks.”writes the Federation.

The video has been circulating since Monday evening. It shows some Argentinian players, including midfielder Enzo Fernandez, chanting racist words aimed at the Blues. It was filmed on the Argentina team bus, in the wake of the Argentinians’ victory on Monday at the Copa America, won 1-0 against Colombia. Philippe Diallo, the president of the FFF condemns “with the greatest firmness the unacceptable racist and discriminatory remarks that were made against the players of the French team” in this song.

Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, the Minister of Sports, Olympic and Paralympic Games, called on the International Federation to react after these racist chants. In a tweet, the minister denounced “behaviors that are all the more unacceptable because they are repeated”. The minister judges this video “pathetic” and calls on FIFA, demanding a “reaction”.
