The first evacuations of French nationals are organized from Lviv, Ukraine. Agnès Vahramian takes stock of the situation, live, Thursday March 3.
The fighting is intensifying and the tension is not decreasing in many areas of Ukraine, eight days after the start of the Russian invasion. Many French people are trying to leave the country. “IEvacuations will increase. We attended this morning [jeudi 3 mars] at the first departure of a French bus from Lviv. There are no fights here. They were fifty on board. The embassy guarantees that it has contacted more, but not everyone has shown up. The French may not have wanted or been able to come here”reports Agnès Vahramian, in duplex from Lviv.
“The embassy says there are about 300 left in Ukraine, they won’t leave anyone behind, but it’s hard to find buses and drivers.” continues the journalist. Two other buses will leave Lviv for Poland on Friday March 4 before heading to France. For all these French people, this departure is synonymous with immense relief.
