French driver Sébastien Ogier, world rally champion for the eighth time

The French driver Sébastien Ogier won his 8th WRC world champion title this Sunday in Italy, at the end of the Rallye de Monza. The Toyota driver even won in Italy. Second in Italy, the Briton Elfyn Evans (Toyota) is vice-world champion. Spaniard Dani Sordo (Hyundai) completes the rally podium. Toyota takes the constructors’ title.

Sébastien Ogier has won in four rallies this season, and continues his quest for world championship titles, his 8th this year (for 53 rally victories) after those won in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020 and therefore 2021. It is approaching the absolute record of world champion titles held by another French, Sébastien Loeb, nine times world champion WRC between 2004 and 2012.
