The inhabitants of Menton (Alpes-Maritimes) are numerous to go to Italy to refuel. Indeed, on the other side of the border, fuel is 10 cents cheaper. A godsend for the customers met by the 13 Heures teams.

Tuesday, April 4, at the gates of Menton (Alpes-Maritimes), on the highway, unleaded is displayed at 1.98 euros. In town, prices are slightly lower. Stations also lack certain fuels. So, the cross-border workers take the direction of Italy. Here, there is no risk of shortage and gasoline is cheaper. “It has more than 10 cents difference with Menton. I find it scandalous to have a price like that in France”laments a consumer.

“We can’t get out of it otherwise”

This resident of Menton is not the only one to refuel in Ventimiglia (Italy). Many French people come to do their shopping and take the opportunity to go to the gas station. “I come every time I need it for shopping and for gas. We can’t get by otherwise”, says a man. Attracted by the prices, more and more French people come to fill up at this station. This situation is the business of the manager. Many French tourists are expected for the Easter weekend in Italy.
