The French biathlon continues its harvest. The men’s 4×7.5 km relay won the silver medal on Tuesday February 15, at the end of a race where a last breathless shot allowed Norway to win. Fabien Claude, Emilien Jacquelin, Simon Desthieux and Quentin Fillon Maillet were in on the action from start to finish. France wins its 12th charm.

Long in the lead, the Russians finished third, after a last shot completely missed. Norwegians can say thank you to Johannes Boe. Starting almost two minutes behind the Russians, the Olympic sprint champion devoured his competitors on skis and proved to be imperial in shooting, allowing the last Norwegian torchbearer to leave alongside the French and Germans.

“It’s wonderful, we all did our job today. We couldn’t have dreamed of a better stint”reacted Fabien Claude at the microphone of France Télévisions.

For Fillon Maillet, this second place gives him a fifth medal in the Beijing Olympics, a feat. His rival, Johannes Boe, however, regains the lead in number of gold medals (three against two). The mass start on Friday (10 a.m.) will represent the final explanation between the two exceptional athletes.
