French astronaut Sophie Adenot will embark on a mission aboard the International Space Station in 2026.

Sophie Adenot gets her ticket to space. A trip planned for 2026 towards the International Space Station in 2026. “Of course this announcement came very, very quickly. It’s a surprise. I’m delighted and very honored. This also comes with great responsibility because the schedule is going to be intense”confides Sophie Adenot.

Only one month after obtaining her astronaut diploma, Sophie Adenot will begin two years of preparation, mainly in the swimming pool, during which she will have to learn to master nearly 15,000 procedures. She therefore becomes the second French woman to go into space after Claudie Haigneré in 1996. The Frenchwoman was selected among 22,500 other candidates. Another challenge for French astronauts: getting a ticket to the Moon. NASA intends to send astronauts there before 2030. Frenchman Thomas Pesquet is well placed to be part of the trip.
