The Sagrada Familia lit up in Barcelona this Wednesday, December 8 to mark the end of the construction of the ninth tower. A disproportionate construction site which started under the leadership of Gaudi in the 1880s. French craftsmen are expected for the next stage of the work.

A Spanish gem still under construction, which is now adorned with a “made in France” touch. La Sagrada Familia, in Barcelona, erects a twelve-pointed star made in Berry. And the French artisans have not said their last word. Other parts must be delivered to Spain. “It’s a source of pride for the Maligno family, for the guys who work with us, they too have done their part of the work, a very good part”, underlines Stéphane Maligno, partner of the company SMF, which produces these parts.

Elements that can only be installed in 2023, the site having fallen behind schedule with the health crisis. Indeed, it is the public’s entries that finance the work, and the cathedral remained closed for a year. The ninth tower erected was made possible thanks to the few savings made previously. There are still nine to be assembled so that the project Gaudi had in mind is complete.
