Wednesday will be freezing almost everywhere in Quebec, while a cold snap will bring wind chill from -45 to -38 degrees in places.
An extreme cold warning is in effect for the western, central and northern sectors of the province.
Environment Canada has also issued a smog warning for the Abitibi sector, in addition to extreme cold. “High concentrations of pollutants are expected and will lead to poor air quality,” the federal agency warned.
For Montreal and the entire St. Lawrence River Valley, the federal agency predicts sunny weather with temperatures ranging between -20 and -18 degrees, with a feeling of -25 degrees in the afternoon.
In Estrie and areas further east such as Bas-Saint-Laurent and Côte-Nord, the same weather conditions will prevail with cold weather and alternating sun and clouds.
The mercury should rise on Thursday for most of the province with seasonal temperatures around -11 to -9 degrees, announcing a rather mild weekend.
