While inflation threatens to impact the price of rental property, the Ministry of the Economy is considering, in the middle of May, a rent freeze.
Soaring inflation and rising rents. Prices continue to climb and solutions are being studied to help the French to be able to pay their receipts at the end of the month. “Last year it had increased, but less than this year,” testifies a tenant. Every year, the rents are more and more expensive. The three factors that are maintenance, inflation and cost construction see their prices increase and a rise in rent results. Single people and retirees are particularly affected by the increase in their rents.
The rent freeze is therefore under study for the government, but this possible measure does not delight everyone. “Homeowners are also affected by inflation,” says the director general of the National Union of real estate property. “They even suffer from inflation on property taxes”, he adds.
