Freezing rain is forecast Wednesday afternoon in several regions of southwestern Quebec before reaching areas as far as Charlevoix and Beauce in the evening.
The precipitation will affect in particular Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Pontiac, Haute-Gatineau-Lièvre-Papineau, Mont-Laurier to reach in the evening the Laurentians and Lanaudière and later in the night the Capitale-Nationale, Beauce and the Réserve faunique des Laurentians.
Ice accumulations could reach 2 millimeters, Environment Canada said.
“Surfaces, such as roads, streets, sidewalks and parking lots, could become icy and slippery,” warned the federal agency which calls for more caution on the roads.
The federal agency is not ruling out the risk of freezing rain for the regions of Montreal and Laval, which could however receive accumulations of snow and sleet of 2 to 4 centimeters.
Everything suggests that rush hour will be difficult Wednesday evening.
Areas further east such as Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie could be affected by freezing rain on Thursday.
Temperatures will be on the rise, due to a warm front associated with a low that will cross the province on Wednesday.
A snow squall warning concerns the Magdalen Islands with strong winds and a possible accumulation of 5 centimeters.
