(Paris) Canadian wrestler Ana Paula Godinez Gonzalez will be aiming for bronze in the 62 kilogram freestyle wrestling category at the Paris Olympics.
The 24-year-old from Burnaby, British Columbia, defeated Romania’s Kriszta Tunde Incze 2-0 in the repechage held at the Champ-de-Mars arena.
She will now face European champion, Norway’s Grace Jacob Bullen, in the third-place play-off later today.
On the other hand, British Columbian Justina Renay di Stasio lost to Turkey’s Yasemin Adar Yigit in freestyle wrestling in the 76 kg category.
Another British Columbian, Amarveer Dhesi, also left after losing to Kyrgyzstan’s Aiaal Lazarev in the repechage of the 125kg freestyle wrestling tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Godinez Gonzalez had defeated France’s Ameline Douarre before suffering an 11-0 defeat to Japan’s Sakura Motoki.
