(Idre Fjäll, Sweden) Six Canadian skiers advanced to the moguls finals at the Freestyle Skiing World Cup in Idre Fjäll, Sweden on Friday.
On the men’s side, Quebecer Mikaël Kingsbury, who triumphed in individual moguls last week at the World Cup in Ruka, Finland, finished third with 82.47 points.
Only the Japanese Ikuma Horishima (83.58) and the French Benjamin Cavet (82.57) beat the double Olympic champion.
Kerrian Chunlaud, of Sainte-Foy, and Gabriel Dufresne, of Joliette, finished 14e and 15e, in order. The first 16 workers have qualified for the men’s final, which will take place on Saturday.
On the women’s side, qualifying was dominated by Japanese Anri Kawamura. She was in order ahead of the French Perrine Laffont, reigning World Cup champion, and the Australian Jakara Anthony.
Sofiane Gagnon of Whistler, BC, was the top Canadian boss by virtue of her seventh place finish. Her teammates, Justine and Chloé Dufour-Lapointe, followed in the ninth and 15the ranks, respectively.
Quebecer Valérie Gilbert was narrowly excluded from the finals, as she finished 17the and that only the first 16 in the standings reached the women’s final.
Idre Fjäll’s World Cup is the second stopover of the season.
