Canadian freestyle skier Evan McEachran was unable to reach the podium in the big jump event on Tuesday night, despite a fiery start. He concluded at 9and rank.

McEachran, who had taken the 11and rank in qualifying, was the second skier to start in the final. And he took the opportunity to put pressure on his opponents. He successfully completed a triple cork 1800 switch with good ski grip. His 93.00 points earned him first place after the first run.
Things went downhill for the Ontarian thereafter. On his second jump, he attempted a big maneuver with two ski holds, but was unable to absorb the shock on landing. He therefore obtained only 22.50 points.
After two rounds, he was ranked 7and rank.
To hope to get on the podium, McEachran had to land his last jump, which he could not do. He finished the final with a cumulative score of 115.50 points, good for 9and rank.
It was the Norwegian Birk Ruud (187.75 points) who won the Olympic gold medal. He also had his country’s flag in hand during his last run, which was only a formality since he was already first in the standings. The 21-year-old skier was all smiles as he arrived at the bottom of the piste.
American Colby Stevenson took silver, while Swede Henrik Harlaut won bronze.
