“Freedom Convoy” | Governments haven’t always worked together, admits Trudeau

(Ottawa) Justin Trudeau admits that at times during the “freedom convoy” protests last winter, the three levels of government weren’t working as well as they could have.

But what matters, according to the Prime Minister, is that in the end, everyone worked together to end the occupation of downtown Ottawa.

In a transcript released Tuesday of a phone call between the Prime Minister and Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, Mr. Trudeau accuses his Ontario counterpart, Doug Ford, of “shitting away from his responsibilities” in this file, for reasons policies.

The document was entered into evidence at the State of Emergency Commission, which is considering the federal government’s decision to invoke the Emergency Measures Act February 14th.

Correspondence filed with the Board of Inquiry shows that city and federal officials believed the Ford government was absent from meetings called to deal with protesters who refused to lift the siege around Parliament Hill.

Questioned on Monday, Mr. Ford said he supported Mr. Trudeau’s use of the Emergency Measures Act and he assured that the two prime ministers had worked hand in hand during this period.
