Free agents in the MLB | Rizzo and Bassitt turn down offers from their teams

(Las Vegas) First baseman Anthony Rizzo has become a free agent again after refusing to take advantage of the $16 million option year under his contract with the New York Yankees for the 2023 season.

Pitcher Chris Bassitt did the same with the New York Mets’ $19 million option, joining teammates Jacob deGrom and Taijuan Walker as free agents.

They are among 11 athletes who became free agents on Tuesday, bringing the major league total to 151.

About 33 players could become free agents starting Thursday, adding to a group that is led by Aaron Judge, Trea Turner, Dansby Swanson, deGrom, Carlos Correa and Xander Bogaerts.
