Frédéric Deban (Under the sun) victim of a homophobic attack: “He tried to hit us…”

His only-on-stage did not evoke the Middle Ages and yet. By going to the Ambigu Theater, on the occasion of the Avignon Festival on Thursday July 21, 2022, Frederic Deban was treated to a speech straight out of the medieval era. According to the testimonies of several spectators present in front of the room, the actor was indeed victim of a terrible homophobic attack. The general manager of the room in which he was about to play allegedly insulted him and his co-author, Dominique Lozac’h, before becoming physically violent.

He uttered homophobic insults in front of a witness

The former hero of the series Under the sun – he played Grégory Lacroix, on TF1, for 12 years don’t intend to stop there. A complaint has been filed with the prosecutor of Aix-en-Provence. On his 50th birthday, the actor actually became deaf following a fight. He has suffered from tinnitus and was deaf for 5 years but ended up getting out of this situation thanks to an operation: an implant which allowed him to regain his hearing. Subtitled for the hearing impaired, his only-on-stage aims to raise public awareness of this handicap which has made life difficult for him for many months.
