Frédéric Chopin, The Nocturnes, Jan Lisiecki

A chance that DG took nearly three months to send us the novelty of its Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki. The holding, meanwhile, of the Chopin Competition makes it possible to put words on the malaise (seasickness) distilled by these Nocturnes. After Bruce Liu’s victory in Warsaw, a concert performer wrote to us: “It is so true, Liu, this unfussy musician, devoted to music. Happy with her victory, this experienced pianist said she was “tired of these young people who give birth on the keyboard”. In terms of musical childbirth, as if performing were a painful process, these Nocturnes de Chopin are a motherhood on their own! And that I delay you such a sentence and lead you down such a tempo … We can invoke the rubato. We can also invoke bad taste. In the recital to be released on the 19th, Bruce Liu will perform the Nocturne op. 27 no 1. The difference will tell about two musicians equally gifted at a young age: the first who sought the golds and spotlights of the star system as quickly as possible, the second who matured to grow in music.
