Frédéric Chagnon stays with the Alouettes

Linebacker Frédéric Chagnon will once again be a member of the Montreal Alouettes next season.

The team announced Thursday that the Montrealer had signed a new agreement.

Chagnon played 16 games with the Alouettes in 2022, registering six special teams tackles.

“Frédéric is one of the best players on the circuit to counter opponents on special teams,” said general manager and head coach Danny Maciocia in a press release. His speed allowed the defensive unit to benefit from good positions on the field. We’re glad he’s back. »

Before arriving in Montreal, Chagnon played for the BC Lions, the team that selected him in the third round in 2017, for three years. He then joined the Ottawa Redblacks for one season.

In 81 career CFL games, the 2014 Vanier Cup winner with the Carabins completed 38 special teams tackles, one defense and one touchdown.
