Four people were injured by stabbing Sunday evening during a fight that broke out during a festive event at Frédéric-Back Park. Montreal police have opened an investigation, but no one has yet been arrested.
It was around 8:40 p.m. that the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reported having been called to the scene. The report to 911 reported a fight that would have broken out in a festive gathering in the park, near Avenue du Cirque, on the side of the Saint-Michel district.
During the altercation, “at least four people were injured by stabbing,” said agent Gabriella Youakim, spokesperson for the SPVM.
All these people, whose age or sex had not yet been specified in the evening on Sunday, were transported to a hospital center to treat injuries. Their state of health is still unknown.
At the end of the evening, no arrests had yet been made in this case. However, a vast security perimeter has been erected around the park, with the presence of several patrol vehicles, investigators and dog handlers, among others.
Over the next few hours, witnesses could be met and videotapes from nearby surveillance cameras could be viewed by investigators.
