Freddie Prinze Jr. insults the director of I Know What You Did Last Summer

American actor Freddie Prinze Jr. marked the launch of his new horror movie podcast, That Was Pretty Scaryreturning with the TooFab site on his experience in the 1997 film I Know What You Did Last Summer.

In the podcast co-hosted with Jon Lee Brody, he said that filming with director Jim Gillespie had been a lousy experience, partly because he had behaved like an “asshole” with him.

The tension between the two is said to have arisen from the fact that Jim Gillespie wanted to give the role of Ray Bronson to Jeremy Sisto, but that it was ultimately given to Freddie Prinze Jr., following the wishes of screenwriter Kevin Williamson.

“There was no passive aggression – which I hate – he was rather very direct in the fact that ‘I don’t want you in this film.’ So when it’s your first role and you hear those words, it destroys you. It just destroys you,” the actor said.

He recalls Jim Gillespie giving him “psychotic notes” on set, including telling him not to keep his mouth open. [parce que] you look stupid when you do that”.

Freddie Prinze Jr. added that he almost gave up on the film because of him: “It was a struggle to finish the job every day. I was in pain every day on this film. But it prepared me for this job in a way. »
