MP Fred Beauchemin was reinstated in the Liberal caucus on Friday after complaints of psychological harassment were dropped which led to his temporary expulsion this fall.
The Quebec Liberal Party initially announced the withdrawal of complaints against it, then confirmed its return to its parliamentary wing, as decided by interim leader Marc Tanguay.
“Fred Beauchemin rejoins the Liberal caucus,” the parliamentary wing said in a press release.
Mr. Beauchemin, who represents the Montreal riding of Marguerite-Bourgeoys, resumes his duties as spokesperson for the official opposition on finance, economy and innovation.
At the origin of this expulsion, the president of the youth wing of the PLQ, Élyse Moisan, had filed a complaint against Mr. Beauchemin, alleging that she had felt harassed, intimidated and threatened by the MP’s entourage.
Mr. Beauchemin then maintained that this complaint was unfounded.
