Fraud: his future condo is found on Marketplace

Consumers need to be more and more alert because of the numerous frauds on the Internet. A future owner from Granby was able to see this when the condo she was about to buy ended up on questionable advertising.

Maude Veilleux is having her first experience in the real estate market. After some research, the young woman fell in love with a condo in downtown Granby, on which she made an offer.

She was surprised, a few days later, when she found that this same condo was on the Marketplace platform.

It was for rent for $ 1,500 per month on the Marketplace platform, explained Maude Veilleux, while she was in the process of buying.

“[Le présumé vendeur] used the same photos that were displayed in the REMAX ad. […] Immediately, I said to myself that there was something fishy in all this.

The brokers involved in the file have been notified. According to Maude Veilleux, a statement to the police was made.

The Granby Police Department reminded people to be vigilant and indicated that this is a ploy that can be used across the province. Authorities urged citizens to do some background checks and not give a deposit to secure a home visit.

As for Maude, she hopes that her awareness message will prevent some people from falling into the trap.
