The film “Fraté”, directed by Karole Rocher and Barbara Biancardini, was shot in the village of Vezzanni, in Corsica. It tells the story of Dumé, who upon the death of his father discovers the existence of a brother.
Friday, June 3, it was preview day in Vezzani (Corsica). It is in this village, that of her grandparents, that director Karole Rocher filmed for four weeks, with the inhabitants. “It’s not our film, in fact. It’s the film of the Vazzanais, and they were extraordinary. They supported, they gave their all”she explains.
The film also inspired Karole Rocher’s daughter, Barbara Biancardini, the film’s co-director. “For me, the village is super important. It’s my favorite place in the world, it’s the place where I feel the best, where I feel the most myself. When we arrive we cry, when we leave we are in depression”, she says. The story of Fraté is that of two brothers who did not know each other, and who will have to live together against the backdrop of an inheritance. The values conveyed by comedy, family, solidarity, respect or even a sense of honor moved the first spectators. Fraté will be released on Wednesday June 8 in Corsica, a week before its national release.
