Francophone music | Mouffe award to Ariane Roy

The first Mouffe prize, created last year by the Outremont Theater to give a boost to an emerging artist singing in French, is awarded this Thursday to singer-songwriter Ariane Roy.

The singer who was crowned Revelation of the Year at the ADISQ gala in November, and whose album medium pleasure is a Juno finalist in the Francophone Album category alongside Daniel Bélanger, Les Louanges, Lisa LeBlanc and Hubert Lenoir, was chosen from 143 nominations from 42 cities in Quebec and Canada.

“This first edition fills me. I can not believe it ! The candidates overwhelmed us with happiness. The choice was not easy. We were so touched by the wealth of talent and the strength of the love of language that emanated from these artists. The next generation in song is abundant and I see with excitement the future of French sung! “said in a press release the one who gave her name to the prize, the invaluable lyricist and director Mouffe.

The prize is endowed with a cash prize of $10,000. The winner will also be able to benefit from mentoring in staging, production and distribution, in addition to being invited to give a show on the beautiful Outremont stage.
