At 35 and while the question of his retirement had already been raised at the end of last season, the former French international, François Trinh-Duc, whistles the end of the game. In an interview with our colleagues from L’Equipe, Wednesday, December 15, the Bordeaux-Bègles player announces that he will end seventeen professional rugby seasons next June. A decision that comes a few weeks after that of his friend, Louis Picamoles.
In addition to this future retirement, the two players share the same colors of Union Bordeaux-Bègles. But it is especially in Montpellier that it all started for the two men.
Trained at the Pic Saint-Loup rugby school, not far from the Hérault prefecture, Trinh-Duc knows everything with the MHR. He played his first professional match there in 2005 before losing a Top 14 final in 2011. It was also when he played in the cistus jersey that he had his first selections. Between 2008 and 2018, he compiled 66 capes with the XV of France. From the joys of a Grand Slam in 2010 to the trauma of a lost World Cup final, a year later, he experienced almost everything with the Blues.
Since the start of the season, Trinh-Duc has been evolving towards Bordeaux-Bègles after having known Racing 92 (2019-2021), Toulon (2016-2019) and therefore Montpellier (2004-2016), where he will return to live his reconversion. .
