François Ruffin campaigns by bike in the Somme

Just over a fortnight from first round of legislative, François Ruffin went to meet voters by bike this Thursday, May 26. With around thirty activists, the LFI candidate traveled 45 kilometers in the first constituency of the Somme where he intends to run for a second term under the banner of the Union of the Lefts.

“Macron has won the Élysée, he has not yet won the Assembly”

In the morning, François Ruffin made stopover in Ailly-sur-Sommethe time to chat with the locals over a coffee. “We try to bring joy to people’s lives so we have barbecues, meetings at the bistro, we do karaoke, there we do a long bike ride that crosses my constituency between Amiens and Abbeville, there has a right to happiness for all”claims the outgoing deputy.

Leaflets in hand, François Ruffin challenges passers-by in front of the supermarket next door. “Macron has won the Élysée, he has not yet won the Assembly, we can block his way and the ballot to do that, it’s mine”, he assures. Gérard, a resident of Ailly-sur-Somme, is already conquered: “I wish him to be re-elected and if he is ministerial, it will be even better.”

Purchasing power and retirement

If re-elected, the candidate promises to fight for theindexation of wages to inflation : “That is to say that when inflation increases by 5%, we automatically have an increase in wages, social minima and pensions, otherwise we are cheated.” According to him, this is the subject that comes up the most during his discussions with voters.

Second obvious campaign theme according to François Ruffin, retirement: “Who wants to work until 65?”
