Prime Minister François Legault will meet on Tuesday with the elected caquistes of the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches.
The information first reported by 98.5 FM was confirmed by The Canadian Press.
This meeting comes a few days after the retreat of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) on the question of the third link; a major infrastructure project for both regions.
Quebec is abandoning the idea of a third highway link between the two shores, to instead propose a tunnel devoted solely to public transport.
Thursday, the Minister of Transport, Geneviève Guilbault, had the heavy responsibility of announcing the change of course of her government on the question. She acknowledged that this had provoked strong reactions within the CAQ caucus in the greater capital region.
“Making difficult decisions brings disappointment and sadness. Some colleagues out of the 15 [élus de la région] are touched. […] I have colleagues who are very affected, ”she said then.
The Minister and MP for the riding of Lévis, Bernard Drainville, had to hold back his tears when he apologized to his constituents.
Martine Biron, who represents the citizens of Chutes-de-la-Chaudière, said she was “injured”. The minister and deputy for La Peltrie, Éric Caire, who had staked his seat on the third link, spoke of “the most difficult decision he had to make”.
