Several provincial premiers, including that of Quebec, François Legault, find themselves on a new list of people sanctioned by Russia.

Mr. Legault is the first name to appear on the list published Thursday by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“In response to the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the Trudeau regime, […] 87 Canadian citizens are denied entry to the Russian Federation,” the ministry said.
Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston, New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs and Prince Edward Island Premier Dennis King are now persona non grata in Russia.
There is also the Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec, Michel Doyon, as well as several elected officials and military officers. Business leaders, including the president of Bombardier, Éric Martel, are also targeted by the sanctions.
On Twitter, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress said it was “happy to see two more members of its staff added to the Russian sanctions list”. “We proudly stand #StandWithUkraine,” he said.
The Kremlin has already barred hundreds of Canadians from entering its territory, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly.
