François Legault invites not to “do it on purpose” to go to the hospital

Quebec does not plan to postpone the return to class if the emergency situation deteriorates during the holidays, but faced with an “already very overloaded” health network, François Legault calls on Quebecers not to “do it on purpose to pick up in [les] hospitals”.

The holiday season is always “very difficult” in the province’s emergency rooms, but Premier François Legault assures that there is no “scenario” comparable to that of last year as the holidays approach. , such as, for example, a delayed start of the school year in January to stem the spread of viruses.

On Thursday, he visited children at Sainte-Justine hospital with his wife Isabelle Brais. Before entering, he repeated the message launched the day before by his Minister of Health. Christian Dubé warned that “particularly in emergencies”, the situation will be “difficult” in the coming weeks due to the increase in contacts.

A few days before Christmas, the Prime Minister is also calling for caution.

“It sucks, but when you have cold-like symptoms, you stay home. We do this for vulnerable people, but also for health personnel. We have a network that is already very overloaded, so let’s not do it on purpose to pick up in our hospitals, ”said Mr. Legault.

Minister Dubé, he added, “is doing everything possible with the resources we have to get through this period”.
