“Will we be able to go up to 20, 25 people?” There are health considerations. There are mental health considerations. This is what we are currently looking at, ”François Legault said on Monday on the sidelines of the inauguration of Club Med de Charlevoix.

Mr. Legault reiterated that the final decision on Christmas will be communicated on Monday. Until then, the state and public health will seek to answer several questions. For example, is the vaccine effective against the new variant?

“Personally, I hope to have the OK so that during the Holidays we are able to climb to 20-25. But for the moment I will listen to the recommendations of public health ”, launched the Prime Minister. “For 20 months we have been relying on public health recommendations,” he adds.

The limit for gatherings is currently set at ten people. According to Mr. Legault, vaccination has changed the game in Quebec, which makes it possible to dream of a more normal Christmas than that of 2020.

“There is a big difference compared to last year and that is the vaccination,” he said.

“We are fortunate to have high vaccination rates. Vaccination of 5-11 year olds is going well, says Mr. Legault. Vaccination does not prevent an increase in cases, but for now it prevents a significant increase in hospitalizations. ”
