François Legault denounces an “unacceptable” situation at the SAAQ

The situation at the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) is “unacceptable”, denounced Premier François Legault, who demanded corrective measures.

On Friday, he commented on the problems related to the transition of services to the SAAQclic platform. This transition is experiencing hiccups and forcing customers to line up at the various points of service.

Visibly irritated, the Prime Minister declared that he was “not at all satisfied with what is happening at the SAAQ”.

He said he discussed it with his Minister of Transport, Geneviève Guilbault, and his Minister of Cybersecurity and Digital, Éric Caire.

“There seem to be difficulties accessing the site, including the authentication part. We are looking at what we can do to simplify, he said. Then, on the other hand, since there are more people in the SAAQ’s physical offices, employees must be added quickly to meet demand. »

“The current situation is unacceptable and I have asked that it be corrected quickly,” he said on the sidelines of an announcement in Rivière-du-Loup.

Regarding the addition of employees, Mr. Legault said he expected that we would show “flexibility” in the event of “exceptional” situations. He points out that at present, flexibility is “still reduced in our collective agreements”.

“We hope to have everyone’s cooperation to be able to bring in new employees quickly and temporarily,” he said.

Launched on February 20, the SAAQ’s new digital platform should allow customers to carry out most transactions remotely and avoid trips to service points.

The aim was to increase efficiency and make it easier, for example, to renew a driving licence, pay for registration or make an appointment for a driving test.

To implement its new platform, the SAAQ says it has converted approximately 10 billion pieces of data.
