François Legault announces the creation of an aerospace innovation zone

The government of Quebec announced the creation of an aerospace innovation zone which will extend to Longueuil, Mirabel and Montreal.

Prime Minister François Legault took advantage of the International Aerospace Innovation Forum, attended by several elected officials, on Tuesday in Montreal, to make the announcement.

The innovation zone, under the governance of Espace Aéro “aims to enhance the attractiveness of Quebec in the field of aerospace and to make it a world leader in decarbonization and advanced air mobility,” according to a press release of the government.

The investments announced Tuesday total $415 million, of which $85 million comes from the government of Quebec.

The innovation zone will prioritize two areas of development: the decarbonization of devices, as well as the autonomy and safety of aircraft.
