François Legault accused of wanting to “buy the election” because of his promise of a new check

Prime Minister and leader of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) François Legault is trying to “buy the next election”, accused the Parti Québécois (PQ) on Wednesday.

Mr. Legault promised Tuesday to send Quebecers another check to counter the rising cost of living, but only if the CAQ is re-elected on October 3.

In a press briefing on Wednesday morning, PQ MP Pascal Bérubé said he had never seen such a thing in 25 years of political involvement.

“Vote CAQ, receive later. It’s appalling. […] Do we want to buy Quebecers? he asked.

“We cannot say to Quebeckers who are suffering: ‘We know that you are suffering, but we will have to elect us to have access to money’. It’s not correct. »
