“We are a bit hypocritical. We continue to buy and do our business in China, but we are afraid that TikTok will follow us, ”launches entrepreneur François Lambert, who has more than 50,500 subscribers on the platform, to the Journal.

“I think it’s more the lobby of the big social networks, like Google, Facebook and Snapchat, which is pushing in the United States to scare politicians,” he underlines.

In the Journal, he recalls that Tim Hortons or even MétéoMédia were caught following us in their own way. Not to mention Netflix, which must know our position.

“It suits us to be afraid of the Chinese since Justin Trudeau was ignored a little bit. I think there are political games, ”continues François Lambert.

Already exposed on the networks

For the barn syrup producer, being on social media is good for business.

“When I put a video, I’m still pretty much saying where I am,” he says with a smile in his voice.

According to him, Quebec companies should not depend on a single social network, but on several to manage to make their brand shine.

“Banning TikTok while politicians stay on it is a bit hypocritical,” he concludes.
