François Lambert eyes Montreal town hall

Denouncing like Pierre Poilievre the “incompetence” of Valérie Plante, the entrepreneur François Lambert affirmed that he was thinking of the town hall of Montreal, which according to him had become a “city of the rich”.

“I think that the City of Montreal should have been under supervision for a good while,” he thundered in an interview with 100% News, on LCN airwaves. “Montreal is in bad shape. We continue to spend and we don’t have more services, taxes are increasing. The breaking point has arrived and we can no longer continue on this path. »

“Am I seriously considering this?” Definitely,” he replied when asked about the extent of his interest. “I say that I am interested, and it is the people who will decide if they want to have me or not. »

As for the politicians with whom he shares chemistry – and who inspire him – François Lambert retorted straight away that there was “no one”.

However, he believes that Pierre Poilievre “is right” to have vilified the skills of Mayor Valérie Plante. “She is incompetent,” he asserted. Now it’s up to her to prove to us that she’s not. »

“Working for taxpayers”

He also believes that it is imperative to offer motorists an attractive alternative by making public transport free. The costs linked to ticketing, he argues, also represent too large a part of the budget of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM). “We can’t afford this anymore. »

“The city is full of holes, and we never have any other solution than to create parks,” quipped the flamboyant entrepreneur in a tirade deploring the state of the roads in the metropolis. “We really need to give the City back to a manager and I would like it to be me, I think I have good ideas. »

” What I want […], it’s working for taxpayers,” he said, denouncing that Montreal has become, according to him, a “city of the rich.” Mr. Lambert claimed to have a “plan”: “If people want to have me, I will feel the pulse and I will make a decision [en conséquence]. » At the conclusion of the interview, he also denied seeking the “ spotlight “.

The next municipal elections will be held in 2025.
