The former Prime Minister is found definitively guilty in the affair of fictitious jobs in the National Assembly. A new trial will take place regarding the sentences handed down.
The Court of Cassation ruled this Wednesday, April 24, 2024 on the appeals of François Fillon, convicted for fictitious jobs in the National Assembly. It definitively confirmed the guilt of the former Prime Minister. But the high court ordered a new trial concerning the sentences handed down against him and the damages.
A first sentence not confirmed
On May 9, 2022, François Fillon was sentenced to four years of imprisonment, including one year, a fine of 375,000 euros and ten years of ineligibility. This sentence is therefore not confirmed by the Court of Cassation. A new hearing will therefore be held in the coming months before the Paris Court of Appeal.
