The Minister of Health François Braun says to himself, Wednesday May 3 on France Inter, “in favor of banning puffs”. These disposable electronic cigarettes which diffuse aromas arrived in France at the end of 2021 and are very popular with young people. François Braun rightly believes that they “bring a young part of our population to smoke”A “scourge” which engenders “75,000 deaths per year” In France.

While Public Health France warned at the end of 2022 of an increase in smoking in 2021, the Minister of Health is worried about the success of puffs among the youngest. François Braun is therefore “favorable to work with parliamentarians on the ban” of these electronic cigarettes. “It can for example be part of our new tobacco plan which is being put in place for 2023-2028”, he indicates. François Braun also mentions “a legal framework that is coming, such as the Social Security financing bill, and which will allow us with parliamentarians to work on this subject”.

The minister had called last December on franceinfo to “law enforcement” concerning the sale of these disposable electronic cigarettes prohibited to minors. “There must be sanctions if there is a sale to minors”he said.
