A new function for François Bayrou. The president of the MoDem and high commissioner for the Plan has been appointed secretary general of the National Council for Refoundation (CNR), he said Thursday, September 1 to AFP, confirming information from L’Opinion (article for subscribers). This new body, supposed to bring together associations, unions and parties, is to be launched on September 8 by Emmanuel Macron.
“I have always defended this idea that we must find areas of consensus to advance a certain number of diagnoses that never advance”has explained Francois Bayrousaying to himself “ready to help by all means to guarantee the good nakedness of this approach and so that no one feels instrumentalised”. He was appointed in September 2020 to head the hself-planning commission.
The creation of the CNR had been announced by Emmanuel Macron shortly before the legislative elections. Its purpose is to reflect on major long-term reform themes. But the opposition parties do not wish to take part in the opening session, seeing it as a “confusion” roles and circumvention of Parliament.
