The girl’s mother has not yet officially reacted, but was filmed learning of her daughter’s release.

Kidnapped during the attack carried out on October 7 by Hamas in southern Israel, Mia Schem, 21, appeared on October 16 in a video broadcast by the Palestinian Islamist movement, lying down and receiving treatment on her arm. Following this video, Emmanuel Macron requested his “immediate release”. A wish that came true a month and a half later. The head of state reacted to the release of the Franco-Israeli on X : “It is a great joy that I share with his family and all French people”.

According to the Forum of Families of Hostages or Missing, Mia Schem, who worked in a tattoo parlor, was at the Tribe of Nova music festival in the Negev desert when she was taken hostage. She went to this festival in the company of a friend, also Franco-Israeli, Elya Toledano, 27, whose fate is unknown. “We are working tirelessly for the release of the French who are still hostages in the Gaza Strip. It is an absolute priority for France. Four of our compatriots are still missing at this time. They can count on the France”, said the Quai d’Orsay, in its reaction to the release of Mia Schem.
