Franck Reyne, St Selve Stables at The Battle of Castillon

Frank Reyne from Saint-Selve stables is our guest on the occasion of the open days for the 2022 Edition of La Bataille de Castillon in partnership with France Blue Gironde for 15 evenings, from July 21 to August 20. At the moment the casting for the cavalry part is taking place on the Belves de Castillon site and it is precisely Franck Reyne who will choose the future riders and the horses who will participate in the show. Franck Reyne is an emblematic figure in the equestrian world. He distinguished himself in show jumping and Horse Ball and still holds positions within the French Equestrian Federation. he speaks with love of his horses and the enthusiasts who, according to him, often practice horse riding to get better with spectacular results

Frank Reyne

Franck settled in Gironde in 1988. For many years, he has been practicing and teaching show jumping and horseball, with numerous rankings for himself and his students. Having become an emblematic figure, he notably distinguished himself in horseball by becoming coach of the French cadet team for several years. He has also specialized in training and teaching (since he is part of an examination board for monitoring) but also in welcoming people with disabilities.

The biggest show in New Aquitaine. The life of the peasants, the monks of St Florent, the knights, the nobility in 1453, the year which put an end to the 100 years war. Thrill to the sounds of Jean Bureau’s artillery and the clash between the Anglo Saxon, French and Breton cavalry during the Battle of Castillon. On a scenic area of ​​3 ha with dazzling lighting, great pyrotechnic effects, vibrate over the market with its acrobats, medieval dances of the harvest festival, waterfalls and crazy cavalcades.

During 1h35, 250 extras and 40 riders make you relive this pivotal period in the history of France.

The idea of ​​celebrating this event germinated in 1953 during the ceremonies of its 500th anniversary but the circumstances of the time were not favorable to celebrate this French victory. The idea will remain anchored in memories, and after a period of more than 20 years, a first performance was born in 1974. Then the show took off in 1977 on the banks of the Dordogne at a place called “la Plage” at Castillon-la-Bataille. The popular success exceeding the expectations of the organizers, the show adapts and then plays in front of the Saint-Symphorien church, at the Equestrian center of Blanzac and for more than 30 years at the foot of the Château de Castegens in Belvès-de-Castillon. The incredible energy of volunteers, groups of friends, families, merchants and their commitment, coordinated by the Festival Committee, makes the show grow year after year.

Stables of Saint-Selve

Equestrian center affiliated with the French Federation of Equitation, the Stables of Saint Selve welcome you, 15 minutes south of Bordeaux, in a calm and pleasant setting in the heart of the Graves vineyard. Three state-qualified instructors, Franck, Mathilde and Babeth, offer you a professional and warm welcome, whatever your age and level, to practice horse riding for leisure or in competition.
Accessible from the A62, exit 1.1 La Brède, the Stables of Saint Selve are located on 8 hectares in the town of the same name. Between vineyards and pine forest, you can come and practice horseback riding, with the complicity of one of the 15 horses, 20 ponies and 10 shetlands of the equestrian center.
The stable also offers the possibility of boarding his horse for the owners. It has indoor and outdoor boxes, paddocks, four arenas and several ballad tracks. The Stables of Saint Selve also welcome horses in transit.
