Franck Proust, the president of Nîmes-Métropole (LR), at the helm of the Nîmes Court of Appeal. A trial theoretically scheduled for 3 days which begins this Tuesday. The court examines the case of the Senim. On July 6, the Nîmes elected official was sent back to the criminal court for influence peddling and favoritism (facts for which he would incur up to 10 years’ imprisonment) but the court had pronounced the cancellation of the whole procedure.
A very long procedure estimated the criminal court
Too long a training period had estimated the court and pronounced the nullity. Unsurprisingly, the call from the prosecution. Franck Proust, the former president of the mixed economy company of Nîmes Métropole (Senim), was indicted in 2017 for facts dating from 2002 to 2004 and 2004 to 2006. Favoritism and influence peddling, advantageous conditions granted to a real estate developer on sales of land located on the ring road also involving managers of companies suspected of having arranged a call for tenders.
The instruction had also brought to light the transfer of another plot which would characterize a park of corruption against the backdrop of a countryside location. Franck Proust, in a case that has known multiple legal acts has always claimed his innocence: “_I still don’t understand what I’m being blamed for_and if I was 20 years younger I would do the exact same thing“.
Three days of trial theoretically
The examination of the SENIM case before the Court of Appeal in Nîmes is planned – theoretically – over 3 days. In addition to Franck Proust, 4 other defendants appear. In a case dating back two decades, two others have died. The Argument failure to respect the reasonable time to judge should be highlighted again.
