Franck Dubosc stunning with his partner at the Angoulême Festival, Denista Ikonomova is not for nothing

After Everyone stand up Franck Dubosc takes on the role of director again for his film rumba life, which he presents during the 15th edition of the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival, an event which opened its doors this Tuesday, August 23 and which highlights other highly anticipated films such as A great race with Dany Boon and Line Renaud and the biopic on Simone Veil. Franck Dubosc made his partner Louna Espinosa dance on Wednesday August 24, 2022, for the photocall of rumba life. A complicity in dance which had its small effect with photographers.

In this new film, Franc Dubosc plays Tony, a school bus driver in his fifties, withdrawn into himself, who lives alone after having abandoned his wife and child twenty years earlier. (…) and who will find the necessary courage to face his past and enroll incognito in the dance class led by his daughter, whom he has never known, with the aim of winning her back and giving a meaning to his life.

The 58-year-old actor therefore found himself faced with a major challenge: learning a few dance steps to perfectly embody his character alongside actress Louna Espinosa who plays the role of his daughter. But not being a dancer, he had to ask for help. To do this, he did not hesitate to call on Denitsa Ikonomova, dancer then star juror of the legendary TF1 show Dance with the stars. A choice he returned to in an interview with the magazine TV Major channels.

She “said yes right away”

I met her a year before shooting started through mutual friends and asked her to help me. Denitsa said yes right away. She was very happy to participate, and above all, she knows how to do it. She manages to quickly teach a choreography to someone who can’t dance” he said. Thanks to this help, he was able to fully concentrate on the most important subject of the film, namely the sometimes difficult relationship between a father and his child.

A theme that obviously touched the father of Raphaël and Milhan (born of his union with Danièle, a Lebanese woman more than ten years her junior). “I wanted to talk about fatherhood because I feel guilty leaving my children to work… It’s one of the big worries in my life. Ever since they were little, I’ve left them for filming. I wanted to treat this subject by magnifying the line” he confided during this interview. Between dances and emotions, this feature film is full of promise!
